Privacy Statement
100% Client-Side. Zero-Trust. This application processes all data and handles all encryption keys *within your browser*. No data is ever uploaded, stored, logged, or analyzed by any external server. We use AES-256-GCM and PBKDF2 (SHA-512, 200,000 iterations) for professional-grade, local security and integrity checks (SHA-256 checksum). Your privacy is guaranteed by design.
About Document Anonymizer
Document Anonymizer is a zero-knowledge, client-side privacy tool that allows individuals, professionals, and organizations to safely anonymize sensitive text or documents directly in their browser — without uploading, transmitting, or storing any data on external servers.
The system works entirely within the user’s device. When a document is pasted into the anonymizer, it automatically detects personal identifiers such as names, emails, phone numbers, dates, addresses, financial values, and other sensitive information. These are replaced with realistic synthetic data — names, addresses, and values that look authentic but contain no traceable link to the original source. The user may then safely share or process this anonymized version (for example, with AI models, partners, or reviewers) without risking privacy violations.
For every anonymized text, the system generates a secure, AES-256-GCM–encrypted mapping block, which is optionally embedded directly within the shared document. This map can later be used, along with the same private passphrase, to restore the original document. Both the map data and the passphrase remain fully under the user’s control. Neither is ever uploaded, stored, cached, nor shared by the system.
Core principles:
- 100% client-side operation — zero data leaves the user’s device.
- Strong encryption (AES-256-GCM + PBKDF2-SHA512, 200,000 iterations).
- No databases, no cookies, no logs, no tracking.
- Works instantly in any modern browser, even offline.
- Self-contained: no external APIs, networks, or third-party dependencies.
Purpose:
Document Anonymizer is designed to empower users with privacy-first tools to prepare, anonymize, and share sensitive content securely. It enables responsible AI use, data sharing, and research collaboration while maintaining ethical and legal compliance with privacy principles such as GDPR, CCPA, and data minimization.
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2025
Last Updated: January 1, 2025
1. Data Handling and Processing
Document Anonymizer processes all text and data locally within your browser. No information, including the text you provide, your encryption keys, anonymized output, or mapping data, is ever sent to any external server, cloud storage, or API.
We do not:
- Collect or store any user data.
- Create or use cookies.
- Track users or record activity logs.
- Access your clipboard, local files, or device storage (unless you choose to upload or download explicitly).
All encryption and anonymization operations occur entirely in your browser’s memory (RAM). Once you close or refresh the page, all session data is permanently erased.
2. Security and Encryption
Document Anonymizer uses AES-256-GCM encryption with PBKDF2-SHA512 key derivation (200,000 iterations) and randomized salts and IVs for each session. Integrity is verified through SHA-256 checksums. Your encryption key is derived locally from your private passphrase and never transmitted or stored anywhere.
3. Anonymized and Mapping Data
The encrypted mapping data is either output as a downloadable file or embedded directly into the anonymized text.
- Only you possess the passphrase required to decrypt it.
- Losing the embedded data or passphrase means permanent loss of the ability to restore your data.
- The application does not have — and cannot regain — access to your original data.
4. Analytics, Third Parties, and Cookies
Document Anonymizer uses no analytics, no cookies, no fingerprinting, and no third-party code. All fonts, styles, and scripts are locally hosted and sandboxed.
5. Data Retention
None. No data is stored, collected, or transmitted. Once you leave or refresh the page, your content and mappings are gone from memory.
6. User Responsibility
You are responsible for managing your passphrase. Always handle anonymized text and embedded restoration data securely and in compliance with your applicable data protection obligations.
